James Kerrigan

About

James Kerrigan is a Los Angeles based Performer, and School Music Educator whose goal is to connect communities though collective musical experiences using Social Emotional Learning techniques. James has achieved these goals through his position as a General Music Teacher in inner-city Los Angeles, leading ages 3-17 in a classroom setting, and through organizing and performing in several community-driven arts festivals and concerts in the San Fernando Valley. He teaches Piano, Voice, Ukulele and the Recorder. He has 15 years of professional youth-choir experience and graduated from California State University Northridge with a Bachelor’s of Music centering on Voice Performance with a minor in Theater Performance. There he studied Opera, Vocal Jazz and Musical Theater. After college, James participated in several theater productions, taught private piano and voice lessons, and worked for James Monroe High school’s weekend conservatory before his current position. When not actively gigging with his band or facilitating any music based activities, James enjoys reading, songwriting, hiking and antiquing.
