Akilah specializes in music therapy for acute psychiatric care, addiction, special needs, trauma and children. Akilah hails from Chicago and has a background in music education. She taught general music at an Illinois public school to grades K-6 for two years before attending Illinois State University in 2012 to pursue her Master’s in Music Therapy. In addition to her work in California, Akilah has practiced music therapy in Kenya, Thailand and Uganda.
